Last weekend, ten Pony Up girls competed at the Regional Dressage Rally in Athens. Anna, Emma, Holly, McKinsey & Olivia earned 1st place in Division I and Audrey, Jordan, Maddy, Molly & Sierra earned 2nd place in Division II. Jordan qualified for Championships on Tilly (her mom's horse which was a last minute replacement ride). We were all especially impressed with Jordan's lovely musical freestyle which she choreographed and with the Quadrille performed by Audrey, Emma, McKinsey & Molly. We heard rave reviews from the crowd! Holly & Maddy both rode beautifully in their first Rally ever, while Anna & Sierra worked hard in their first time as horse managers and Zoe attended her first rally as a "shadower". An early dismissal on Saturday permitted the girls and moms to kick-back at the hotel for a pizza & swim party. Lots of fun! Thanks to all the PUPC moms for volunteering, with special recognition to Becki, Diane & Tammie for running the scoring office, to Carol for coaching the girls, and to Leslie for pulling off the highest grossing Champs fundraiser ever with her used tack sale & silent auction. Congratulations competitors and moms for a job well done!
Pony Up girls and moms have been busy! First, we'd like to welcome new member Zoe and mom Linda to the club. Zoe will get her first rally experience this coming weekend, as she "shadows" the competitors at Dressage Rally in Athens.
On June 16, the club hosted a Rally Prep Clinic at Karma Ridge. Twelve PUPC members and their moms met at Karma Ridge to learn or review rally procedures, inventory tack boxes, and practice tack and feed room set-up and tear-down. Dressage Rally, here we come!
Last weekend, Texas Rose Horse Park in Lindale, Texas held their first summer horse trials. In Beginner Novice Rider, Sierra & Classic tied for 1st after dressage. A rail in stadium dropped them to 5th place in a very tight division, but they were double clear on cross country. Congrats Sierra & Classic for a great showing! Abby and Ambra both moved to Training level at the event with their young horses. Both girls completed the event with good dressage tests and double clear stadium rounds. On cross country, Ambra was clear and finished with a 6th place ribbon, while Abby had an unfortunate bobble on course which placed her out of the ribbons. Great job girls on your successful move-up to Training! Ambra's young homebred, Alfie, placed third in Open Training, his first Training level event, with beautiful and double clear rides by trainer, Ellen. Special recognition goes to Sydney for grooming for Ambra over a very long, hot weekend - thanks Syd!
Audrey, Emma, McKinsey & Molly (aka "The Pony Hearts Club") are stars. Check out the write up at www.justforponies.com and their Quadrille video on YouTube. Can't wait to see them perform at the upcoming Dressage Rally.
Pony Up was well-represented at the Feathercreek Horse Trials in Norman, Oklahoma last weekend. Jordan, Abby & Arlee competed in Junior Novice and Sydney & Olivia competed in Junior Beginner Novice. Moms Carol (4th Novice Amateur) & Amy (2nd Starter) also competed, both finishing on their dressage scores. Abby won 2nd and Arlee won 3rd place, both finishing on their dressage scores of 29.6 and 30.0 respectively. Congratulations to all our competitors for braving the heat and humidity with smiles and great attitudes!
PUPC families were busy with their horses over the Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, Sierra brought home blue ribbons with both Badger and Classic at the Fairfield Dressage Show in Pilot Point. Audrey, Emma, McKinsey and Molly performed their 6-minute quadrille to the song "The Time of Our Lives" at the same show and received applause and rave reviews from the audience and judge! On Sunday, Anna, Abby, Audrey, Emma, Holly, Maddy, McKinsey, Molly, Olivia and Sydney plus moms Amy, Carol and Jenny competed at the Rose Hill Summer Mini Horse Trials, Combined Test and Dressage Show in Anna. McKinsey took 1st and Molly took 2nd in the Tadpole HT division. A special congratulations to Maddy for completing her first horse trials and taking home a 5th place ribbon in the Tadpole HT division - great start Maddy and we look forward to seeing lots more of you and Ben at the shows! The families had a tailgate party and took home lots of ribbons and memories. Meanwhile, Arlee's family spent the holiday weekend camping and trail riding with their horses at Lake Somerville State Park west of College Station.
